Madison – State Rep. Amaad Rivera-Wagner (D-Green Bay) is praising an Executive Order issued by Governor Tony Evers creating the state Office of Violence Prevention.
“I applaud Governor Evers’ investment in data-driven solutions that address the root causes of violence. In my previous work as Chief of Staff to Mayor Genrich in Green Bay, I was proud of the work we did with our Police Department to establish an Office of Violence Prevention for the city. I’m excited to see more cities follow Green Bay’s lead of being more than just tough on crime but also smart on addressing issues in our community.” Rivera-Wagner said.
Earlier today, Governor Tony Evers announced that he was signing an Executive Order creating the state Office of Violence Prevention. The Office will be tasked with, amongst other actions, administering grants to help local governments and organizations address violence in their communities. Additionally, Evers announced that his budget would include a provision making the Office of Violence Prevention permanent.
