Green Bay, WI – Today, State Representative Amaad Rivera-Wagner (D-Green Bay) convened a housing roundtable in partnership with NeighborWorks Green Bay and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) to address local housing challenges and gather community input on solutions. The event brought together residents, housing experts, local leaders, and elected officials—including Senator Jamie Wall, members of the school board, and representatives from Green Bay’s Common Council and surrounding municipal boards.
The roundtable focused on the urgent need for affordable and attainable housing, especially for working families and first-time homebuyers in Green Bay. Participants discussed barriers, proposed solutions, and offered testimony reflecting the depth of the current crisis.
“I’m incredibly grateful to NeighborWorks Green Bay for hosting today’s housing roundtable, and to WHEDA, Senator Jamie Wall, and our local leaders—from school board members to city council and village trustees—for showing up with both urgency and heart,” said Rep. Rivera-Wagner. “The diversity of voices at the table reminds us not only of the scale of our housing crisis, but of the deep passion we have to do something about it.”
“We heard stories and solutions from across our community. One local realtor shared that there are just seven homes currently on the market in Green Bay under $250,000—a staggering number that underscores the challenge,” Rivera-Wagner continued. “I’m committed to being a champion for housing that works at any income level—for anyone who wants to live, work, and thrive in Green Bay. In the face of these dire circumstances, we must be bold and innovative—reimagining how we build, finance, and protect housing so that our communities remain accessible to all.”
The event is part of Rep. Rivera-Wagner’s broader legislative and community-driven efforts to advance housing affordability, protect tenants, support first-time buyers, and promote neighborhood reinvestment throughout northeast Wisconsin.
