GREEN BAY, WI – Representative Amaad Rivera-Wagner (D–Green Bay) released the following statement in response to a federal court ruling holding the Trump administration accountable for unlawfully dismantling AmeriCorps:

“This decision is a powerful reminder that good things are worth fighting for—and there is nothing more noble than serving our community. Public service belongs to the people, and today, it’s been rightfully protected.”

Rivera-Wagner highlighted how Green Bay’s own Conservation Corps, the first municipally run AmeriCorps program in Wisconsin history, was directly impacted by these cuts—yet stood strong thanks to local action.

“While Washington played politics, Green Bay got to work,” he said. “Our Common Council came together to fund the Conservation Corps when others turned their backs. That’s people-first leadership.”

The program recently received national honors and continues to provide hands-on environmental and civic training to local residents—proof of what happens when communities invest in their own.

“This program is Green Bay at its best—innovative, inclusive, and rooted in the belief that when we invest in people, our whole community rises,” said Rivera-Wagner. “This court ruling reminds us: good things happen when we don’t back down. When we choose service over cynicism, we win.”
