MADISON, Wis – On Thursday, September 4th, Representative Joe Sheehan (D-Sheboygan) along with his Democratic colleagues in the Assembly and Senate introduced the Build a Stronger Wisconsin bill package. This package includes a restoration of the state’s prevailing wage law, which Rep Sheehan authored. Other bills in the package include the repeal of “Right to Work” laws, strengthening worker misclassification laws, and restoring project labor agreements. Rep Sheehan released the following statement:

“We are experiencing skilled labor shortages in this state and must make efforts to attract and retain the workers. Guaranteeing a fair wage and benefits package by restoring prevailing wage on Wisconsin’s state building projects will help make skilled labor a more attractive career, keep money spent on state projects here in the state, and ensure our laborers have all the tools they need to thrive in our state. In summation, prevailing wage is good for employees, it’s good for employers and it’s good for communities.”
