Madison, Wis. — Last week, State Rep. Ryan Spaude (D-Ashwaubenon) was appointed to the Assembly Committee on Judiciary following nomination by Minority Leader Neubauer and confirmation by Speaker Vos. The appointment was part of a series of changes in committee membership. Rep. Spaude released the following statement:

“When I ran for office last year, I made a promise. On the issue of public safety, I promised that I would always try to do the right thing for my constituents. It doesn’t matter which party you belong to—if you have an idea to make my community safer, I want to work with you.

“My appointment to the Judiciary Committee will allow me to craft legislation and shape the debate around public safety in Wisconsin. I look forward to working with my new colleagues on the committee. Our focus should be on making tangible improvements to our justice system, not creating political theater.

“I want to thank Leader Neubauer and my Democratic colleagues for entrusting me with this committee assignment.”
