MADISON, Wis. – Today, Representative Stroud, alongside Legislative Democrats, introduced the Lowering Costs, Improving Lives package to help working families across our state. The three-bill package would reduce the tax burden for low-income renters and homeowners by expanding the Homestead Tax Credit, cut the costs of grocery bills through Healthy School Meals for All, and decrease prescription drug prices with the Less for Rx agenda.

Representative Angela Stroud (D- Ashland) released the following statement regarding the package:

“The bills that my Democratic colleagues and I announced today capture exactly why I wanted to run for office: to help find solutions for working people and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Wisconsin families.

Too many people are struggling under the weight of rising costs, and these bills will help. The homestead tax credit hasn’t been raised since 2010, and I’ve never met anyone who thinks our prescription drug prices are fair. Universal meals means that all kids will have access, no questions asked. Parents will tell you that school meals relieve them of an enormous burden, and it will save families an average of $154 per month, per child. This is common sense legislation that improves people’s lives, which is exactly what we were all elected to do.”
