ASHLAND, Wis. —Today, Governor Tony Evers announced that he will not seek another term as Governor of Wisconsin. In response, State Representative Angela Stroud (D-Ashland) issued the following statement:

“The first time I ever knocked doors for an election was to help Tony Evers win the Governorship in his first term. Of course, I had no idea then that I would eventually have the honor of working with him.

While I’ve only had the opportunity to serve in the Legislature for a short time, Governor Evers has been nothing but kind, genuine, and supportive. The partnership with his administration has already made a real difference in our district. Not only is he a staunch ally of our tribal nations, but he helped to make the Superior lead pipe replacement deal a reality.

Governor Evers has spent his life working on behalf of the people of Wisconsin, and I’m grateful for his service. He has truly been a governor for all of Wisconsin, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best in retirement.”
