MADISON, WI – On Thursday, April 17th, Representative Shelia Stubbs attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the long-awaited Phillip A. Levy Engineering Hall alongside university leaders, students, faculty, and community members. Representative Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison) released the following statement:
“It was an honor to be present for the groundbreaking of a project many in the community have been waiting for: the Phillip A. Levy Engineering Hall. Having once represented our flagship University of Wisconsin – Madison under the previous legislative maps, I have seen the need for a comprehensive new facility for our School of Engineering increase over the years.
I applaud this incredible investment into the future of the University and our state’s engineering workforce—by increasing our capacity to give students a world-class education and accommodate growing enrollment numbers, we will be able to support our talented up-and-coming engineers for generations to come.
The new engineering building will provide students with 395,000 square feet of space dedicated to research and instructional space, a transformative facility that will encourage collaboration, innovation, modernization, and opportunity.
As one of the nation’s top public universities, the University of Wisconsin will continue to lead the way and support the growth of our state’s workforce and economy with this exciting addition. I can’t wait to see how the new engineering building will fundamentally shape student experience and success on the UW campus.”
