MADISON – Today, a resolution proclaiming May to be Jewish American Heritage Month in Wisconsin passed the Assembly. Authored by Representative Lisa Subeck, one of two Jewish-American legislators in the state and a member of the Leadership Council of the National Association of Jewish Legislators, the resolution passed unanimously and had a bipartisan list of co-sponsors.

“The impact of Jewish Americans on Wisconsin’s history cannot be overstated,” said Rep. Subeck, “Wisconsin’s Jewish community has produced U.S. Senators, famous entertainers, and Prime Ministers. I am proud to be part of that history.

Justice and religious freedom are core principles that the Jewish community holds deeply. The passage of this bipartisan resolution is a symbol of unity and acceptance in times that have otherwise become so divisive and polarized.”

Rep. Subeck represents the 79th Assembly District, and serves as Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
