MADISON, Wis. – Today, Representative Angelito Tenorio (D-West Allis) joined Legislative Democrats to unveil the Lowering Costs, Improving Lives package, a comprehensive three-bill initiative designed to ease financial burdens for working families across Wisconsin. This package includes proposals to expand the Homestead Tax Credit, implement Healthy School Meals for All, and reduce prescription drug prices through the Less for Rx agenda.
Representative Tenorio released the following statement:
“From every corner of Wisconsin, families have shared their concerns about rising costs and their desire for meaningful action. Today, we’re taking bold steps to deliver real relief and improve lives.
“Our Lowering Costs, Improving Lives package directly supports working families, seniors, and communities by addressing key cost-of-living challenges. This package reflects our commitment to ensuring every Wisconsinite has the freedom, opportunity, and financial security to thrive.”
“I’m particularly proud to champion Healthy School Meals for All, an initiative to ensure every student has access to nutritious meals while saving families money. Rising grocery costs are putting a strain on families across our state, and this proposal addresses both food insecurity and financial hardship. According to USDA estimates, this initiative will save families an average of $154 per month per child—or $1,848 annually per school year. It’s a win for families and a step toward ensuring no child goes hungry in Wisconsin.”
“The Lowering Costs, Improving Lives package offers immediate, targeted relief for working families and lays the foundation for a more equitable, prosperous Wisconsin. These bills are just the first of many steps we’ll take to ensure everyone in our state has the tools to succeed and the opportunity to thrive.”
