MADISON, Wis. — Today, Chairman Thomas Fowler of the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin delivered the 2025 State of the Tribes Address to a joint session of the Wisconsin State Legislature. After the conclusion of the address, Rep. Randy Udell (D-47th District) released the following statement:
“It was a privilege and an honor to welcome leaders from Wisconsin’s sovereign tribal nations to the State Assembly. Chairman Thomas Fowler delivered an empowering address and shared the challenges, new and old, that our state’s indigenous nations face. It is more important than ever that our governments cooperate and collaborate to address threats to the economy, to social wellbeing, and to environmental safety.
“The voices of Wisconsin’s tribal nations have too long been sidelined. It is the responsibility of Wisconsin institutions to address inequities and ensure a prosperous, shared future.
“We are stronger together.”
