MADISON, Wis – On October 14th, the Wisconsin Legislature convened and passed minor bills related to criminal justice.

Representative Randy Udell (D-47th District) released the following statement:

“With the federal government shut down and funding slashed for healthcare, food assistance, and other lifeline programs, Wisconsin’s majority party has produced no meaningful legislation to help alleviate our collective economic, governmental, and social turmoil.

“My Democratic colleagues and I offered numerous amendments today to serve the will and the needs of Wisconsin residents. Our amendments included filling the $70 million gap left by Trump’s Big Ugly Bill in Wisconsin’s Foodshare program, providing a critical $25 million to maintain Emergency Medical Services at risk of shutting down across the state, and forcing a vote on my resolution demanding the release of the Epstein Files. The Republican majority voted against each of these measures.

“On pressing economic, governmental, and social issues, this Republican legislative majority is failing the people of Wisconsin.”
