Madison, Wis. – this summer, the Trump Administration issued many policies removing environmental protections and clean energy investments. These policies included restricting wind and solar tax credits, eliminating the EPA’s Endangerment Finding of six greenhouse gases, and introducing new barriers to green energy permitting.

Representative Randy Udell (D-47th District) released the following statement:

“The federal administration’s stance on sustainable energy will harm Wisconsin for generations, beginning today. Already, large-scale solar projects in Wisconsin that depend on federal tax credits are being threatened, which economically damages our state’s utilities and manufacturers, including our labor unions.

“Even more insidious is Trump’s ‘energy density’ consideration for permitting wind and solar development on public land. In a nonsensical statement, billionaire and Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum stated that we could ‘minimize environmental impact’ by using energy sources like coal that take up less land than wind turbines. I doubt anyone with lungs who’s stood near a coal plant would agree.

“Once again, Trump is selling our country’s economy and future at the whims of the ultra-rich.”
