MADISON, Wis – On October 21st, Governor Tony Evers announced that, due to federal funding gaps, Wisconsin’s FoodShare program will run out of funding by November.
Representative Randy Udell (D-47th District) released the following statement:
“FoodShare is 100% federally funded, and it’s our best resource to combat poverty. Due to federal Republicans’ failure to reopen the government, more than 700,000 Wisconsinites – including over 260,000 children and teens – will go hungry next month. During the last floor session, Legislative Democrats proposed funding this program at the state level, and Legislative Republicans refused.
“With his own citizens under threat to starve, Trump has responded by demolishing portions of the White House to build a $250 million gold ballroom and announcing a $40 billion bailout for Argentina, which will serve the high-yield, off-shore hedge funds owned by Robert Citrone, one of Trump’s billionaire donors.
“Never in my life have I seen a US leader so brazenly at war with his own constituents, and families in District 47 are hurting because of it.”
