MADISON–Tomorrow marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement:
“The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26th, 1990, recognizing the rights of people with disabilities to fully participate in public life. On the 35th anniversary–and every day–we celebrate the positive impact the ADA has had on the disability community in Wisconsin and across the country.
“I am proud to continue working to make Wisconsin more accessible by re-introducing my bill to require the installation of adult-sized changing stations in certain high-capacity public buildings and creating a tax credit for small businesses to install these stations. Let’s commit to working together to continue to build a world more inclusive of and accessible to everyBODY! Forward, together!”
