MADISON–After torrential rainfall caused widespread flooding in Southeast Wisconsin earlier this month, Governor Evers formally requested a federal disaster declaration from the President of the United States. Wisconsinites now await an approval from the President. Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) issued the following statement:
“Our community has sustained severe damage from the floods that occurred earlier this month. Thank you to Governor Evers for being on the ground with us to survey damage and for making the request for a federal disaster declaration. We saw extensive damage across Wauwatosa, Brookfield, and Elm Grove, and it is my hope that the President approves the disaster declaration so that federal assistance can be made available to our community.
“I am thankful for Governor Evers’ leadership, and the dedicated service of our first responders, municipal and county leaders, and community partners in recent weeks. I am also grateful for the ways we have seen neighbors caring for neighbors. We know that recovery is a long process–let’s continue to be good neighbors and take care of each other during this difficult time. Forward, together.”
