River Falls, WI…Representative Shannon Zimmerman (R-River Falls) voted for Assembly
Joint Resolution 1/Senate Joint Resolution 2 to require valid photographic identification when
voting.
“It is important for the citizens of a democracy to have faith in the electoral process. This
constitutional amendment ensures that Wisconsinites will have full confidence in the integrity of
our elections. Even Governor Evers acknowledges that obtaining photo identification is easy,”
said Representative Zimmerman. “This is a common sense proposal that I hope will be amended
into the State Constitution.”
The joint resolution passed the Assembly on a 54-45 vote. This is the resolution’s second
consideration and Wisconsin voters will be asked to approve the proposed constitutional
amendment in a statewide referendum. A 2024 Pew Research poll indicated that 81% of
Americans support requiring voter ID.
