Below is a statement from Washington Co. Executive Josh Schoemann calling for State Superintendent Jill Underly’s resignation as a consequence of the ongoing Department of Public Instruction teacher misconduct coverup scandal:
“Today, as lawmakers from both parties in Madison held an official public inquiry into the Department of Public Instruction’s handling of sexual misconduct and grooming, allegations, and teacher licensure issues, State Superintendent Jill Underly refused the invitation to testify and didn’t even bother to attend the hearing. The Department has a history of slow walking public records requests and ignoring the concerns of Wisconsin parents. Now she flat out ignores the requests of the state legislature. I reiterate my call for Superintendent Underly to resign immediately. Her cavalier response to this very serious matter is the final straw.”
