MADISON – Today, the State Senate meets for the first official session day of the year. The body is set to take action on just one item, Senate Joint Resolution 2. Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) released the following statement:

“While Wisconsinites face cost-of-living challenges, grapple with gun violence in their communities, and struggle with health care access, Senate Republicans’ first action of the new year is a constitutional amendment, cementing what already exists in state law into Wisconsin’s constitution in a show of partisan gamesmanship.

“It’s unfortunate that my Republican counterparts don’t act this swiftly on issues that could actually have a real, positive impact on Wisconsinites’ everyday lives.”
