MADISON… Today, the Senate Committee on Organization formally announced the creation of the Special Committee on Oversight of the Department of Justice (SCODOJ). The committee will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the operations, priorities, and external influences affecting the Wisconsin Department of Justice. The committee is tasked with issuing a final report and recommendations by April 14, 2026.
“The people of Wisconsin deserve transparency and accountability from every corner of their government,” said Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu, who chairs the Committee on Senate Organization. “This special committee will ensure that the Department of Justice, an agency created and funded by the Legislature, is operating within its statutory authority and serving the public interest—not the agenda of third parties or outside organizations.”
Leader LeMahieu announced the following appointments to the special committee:
Senate President Mary Felzkowski (R-Tomahawk), Chair
Senator Cory Tomczyk (R-Mosinee), Vice-Chair
Senator André Jacque (R- New Franken)
Senator Eric Wimberger (R-Oconto)
Two vacant appointments remain on the committee that will be filled at the recommendation of the Senate Minority Leader.
