MADISON – Today, State Senator Kelda Roys (D-Madison) adjourned the State Senate in honor of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien and MS-13 gang member, and alleged domestic abuser and human trafficker who has been deported by the federal government. She also adjourned in honor of “278 or more residents who have been disappeared.”

In response, State Senator Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) and chairman of the Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety issued the following statement:

“It’s unbelievable. I couldn’t believe I heard it. I literally had to go back and watch it again it was so nuts. I still can’t believe it. I know Senator Roys represents one of the most liberal districts in Wisconsin, but it’s still crazy. Adjournments are usually in honor of local accomplishments, recognizing people who have done something good. I never thought I’d hear someone, much less an elected official, going out of their way to honor an illegal alien, alleged domestic abuser, human trafficker, and gang member. It’s disgusting.”

“If you want to disagree with deporting criminal illegal aliens from the state and country, that’s fine. The vast majority of Wisconsinites and Americans disagree with you, but that’s your right. But honoring criminal illegal aliens, gang members, and human traffickers in the Wisconsin state Senate? She should be ashamed.”
