Veteran, business leader, and lifelong Wisconsinite launches community-focused campaign; Public kickoff event set for November 6 in Port Washington
PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. — Brad Smith, a Wisconsin National Guard veteran, business leader, and advocate for middle-class families, today announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District. Smith is running to protect Wisconsin’s middle class, strengthen family farms, expand access to healthcare and education, and ensure working people have a fair shot at prosperity.
Smith’s story is rooted in Wisconsin’s rural and industrial traditions. He was raised in Neenah, spent weekends on his family’s dairy farm in Iola, and later served as a Staff Sergeant in the Wisconsin National Guard, including a 14 month deployment during the Global War on Terror. After returning home, he built a career growing Wisconsin-based businesses, mentoring innovators, and supporting workforce development.
He and his wife, Jennifer, are raising their two sons in Mequon. “I’m running because the Wisconsin I love, the one that gave my family a vibrant future, is slipping away,” says Smith. “I’ll fight for affordable healthcare, good jobs with fair wages, and real access to education and training that help move us all Forward, Together.” Smith goes on to explain that “this campaign isn’t powered by corporate PACs or billionaires. It’s powered by Wisconsinites hungry for change; people who work hard, care for their families, and believe we do better when we work together. Because together, we can protect our Wisconsin way of life and prosper.”
Smith emphasizes a bipartisan, problem-solving approach, focused on practical solutions that make life more affordable for Wisconsin families. His top priorities include expanding access to education and job training so every worker can build a stable career, protecting and improving affordable healthcare for all, and growing good-paying jobs that keep our economy strong and local communities thriving.

Brad Smith is a lifelong Wisconsinite, veteran, and business leader dedicated to strengthening communities and expanding opportunity. A former Staff Sergeant in the Wisconsin National Guard, he later earned degrees from UW–Stevens Point and an MBA from the UW System before working his way up from web designer to executive roles in Wisconsin-based companies. He currently runs a small consulting firm and remains active in youth mentorship and veteran support organizations.
