MADISON, WI – After democratic lawmakers spent weeks calling out attacks on reproductive healthcare, it’s clear that Republicans in Wisconsin have realized they cannot win by going after women and Wisconsin’s doctors. A new amendment offered by Rep. Gustafson (R-Omro) removes both the catch kit requirement and the financial penalty for doctors from Assembly Bill 718 – attacking the use of abortion medication in Wisconsin.
SSDC Communications Director Will Karcz on the new amendment:
“Republicans in the Assembly and the Senate see the writing on the wall, they know 2026 will be the year Democrats flip both chambers and this amendment is simply a desperate way to try and save their own jobs. The claim that abortion medication impacts our waste water is a lie, and no matter how many amendments they offer voters won’t forget their creepy and invasive attacks on reproductive healthcare.”
