MADISON, WI – With today’s news of Senator Jesse James (SD-23) announcing his candidacy in the 31st Senate District, it has never been more clear that Senate Republicans are panicking over the realization that Democrats will win a majority in 2026 and Wisconsinites will finally have a legislature that fights for them.
State Senate Democratic Committee Communications Director, Will Karcz, has released the following statement on Sen. James’ announcement:
“Republicans failed to defeat Senator Jeff Smith when this district was drawn by and for Republicans, and now that it’s a democratic district they think that their hand picked run-of-the-mill Republican candidate is going to get it done? The desperation of shuffling the deck and moving Senator James to a new district is simply an embarrassing ploy to try to cover up for the fact that Senate Republicans have no record to run on, no message to voters, and no fresh ideas on how to move our state forward.”
