[Milwaukee, WI] – The Students for a Democratic Society chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), alongside community allies, will hold a protest outside the upcoming University of Wisconsin Board of Regents meeting on Thursday, June 5, condemning the UW system’s continued ties to the genocidal state of Israel amid its actions in occupied Palestine.

The protest will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Falasteen Lawn, located at the corner of Kenwood and Downer Avenue in Milwaukee. Demonstrators will then continue their action outside the UW Board of Regents’ Business and Finance Committee meeting, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. in the UWM Student Union.

This protest follows nearly two years of sustained student organizing across UW campuses demanding an end to the UW system’s academic, financial, and institutional ties with what protestors describe as a genocidal regime. Students are also calling attention to the Board of Regents’ ongoing refusal to divest or respond meaningfully to student demands, even as campus communities have experienced heightened police surveillance, a rise in Islamophobic incidents, and the silencing of dissent.

Students for a Democratic Society and supporting groups emphasize that they will continue to resist and mobilize until the UW system takes decisive action to cut all ties with the Israeli state and its institutions.
