Madison, Wisconsin (May 1, 2025) – Justice Ann Walsh Bradley officially began her term as chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court today, following her election to the position by fellow members of the Court. She succeeds Justice Annette Kingsland Ziegler, who served in the role since 2021 and will continue to serve as a justice on the Court.
“I am honored to serve as chief justice and to help guide the important work of our court system,” said Chief Justice Bradley. “I’m grateful to my colleagues for their trust, and I want to extend sincere thanks to Justice Ziegler for her service and leadership over the past four years.”
Chief Justice Bradley, who has served on the Supreme Court since 1995, will hold the position of chief justice until June 30, 2025. As previously announced, Justice Jill J. Karofsky has been elected to serve the remainder of the current two-year term beginning July 1, 2025.
The chief justice serves as the administrative head of Wisconsin’s judicial system and works closely with court
leadership statewide to ensure the fair and efficient administration of justice.
