MADISON, WI – Marking the next chapter in The Welch Group’s distinguished history in Wisconsin government affairs and association management, founder Bob Welch will become Senior Advisor after a 40-year career in Wisconsin politics; Peter Welch and Jim Steineke to lead the firm forward.

Bob Welch founded the firm in 2004 and has been a trusted voice for clients across a wide range of industries and issues. As Founder and President of The Welch Group, he is capping an extraordinary four-decade career in Wisconsin politics and public policy, including leadership roles in both the Wisconsin Assembly and Senate, and serving as his party’s candidate for U.S. Senate.

“After 40 years in the arena, it’s the right moment to step back from daily management and support the next generation of leadership,” said Bob Welch. “My wife, Jeanne, and I have always been entrepreneurs, and I’m proud of the firm we’ve built and the relationships we’ve established at every level of Wisconsin government. We look forward to continuing to advise our team and our clients in this new role.”

Jeanne Welch, Founder and Vice President of Finance, will also be stepping back from her role in the business.

Effective today, Peter Welch will serve as President and Managing Partner of The Welch Group, and Jim Steineke, former Wisconsin Assembly Majority Leader, will serve as Partner and Head of Advocacy. Together, they will lead the firm’s client advocacy, growth, and strategic direction.

“Our firm’s core mission remains unchanged: to provide clients with the highest level of insight, access, and integrity across every aspect of organizational growth, advocacy, and strategic engagement in Wisconsin,” said Peter Welch. “We are grateful for Bob’s leadership and vision, and we’re excited to carry that legacy forward.”

Alongside The Welch Group’s association management team, the firm’s advocacy team includes Jordan Lamb, Stamena Mesec, and Samantha Johnson. The firm represents clients across sectors including energy, healthcare, technology, agriculture, construction and economic development, and is recognized as one of Wisconsin’s premier bipartisan lobbying, strategic planning, and association management firms.
