State superintendent Jill Underly’s campaign launched its first digital ad in the DPI race, where Underly is facing two challengers for reelection.
The ad will run on TV and social media platforms across Wisconsin. A spokesperson for the Underly campaign declined to say how much was being spent on the ad, which comes two weeks ahead of the Feb. 18 primary.
In the video, Underly touts her accomplishments as state superintendent.
“Today our graduation rate is the highest in state history, and our schools are ranked 6th in the nation,” Underly says.
Underly adds she helped pass a bipartisan literacy law and raised the standards for math and science.
The first-term superintendent has been under fire from critics who have accused her of lowering standards on standardized tests.
Underly is running for reelection against challengers Jeff Wright, the Sauk Prairie schools superintendent, and education consultant Brittany Kinser. The top two candidates after the Feb. 18 primary will compete at the April 1 general election.
