MADISON, Wis. – UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center invites the community to support pancreatic cancer patients and research efforts at the 12th annual Roll & Stroll for Pancreas Cancer.
Roll & Stroll is organized by the Pancreas Cancer Task Force, a group of volunteers dedicated to raising funds for pancreas cancer research while supporting patients throughout their cancer journey. The task force aims to raise $150,000 this year, with all money raised to support pancreas cancer research and care initiatives at the Carbone Cancer Center.
The event takes place Sunday, Aug. 10, at Capital Brewery, 7734 Terrace Ave., Middleton. Day-of registration and check-in begin at 8:30 a.m. They are expecting more than 700 attendees this year.
While pancreas cancer accounts for only approximately 3% of new cancers diagnosed, it accounts for almost 8.5% of all cancer deaths, according to the National Cancer Institute. With a five-year survival rate of roughly 13%, continuing to fund pancreas cancer research is life-or-death, according to Dr. Noelle LoConte, medical oncologist at Carbone.
“Pancreas cancer continues to challenge cancer care teams and researchers,” she said. “Funding the research to find better ways to diagnose and treat this cancer is more important than ever.”
Roll & Stroll is a touchstone for the community of patients, survivors and their families, according to Paige Zezulka, chair of Roll & Stroll 2025.
“We lift each other up and give each other hope,” she said. “We look forward to this event all year, and we are so grateful to those who donate their time, energy and money to ending pancreas cancer.”
Participants can choose from a 50-kilometer, 25-kilometer or five-kilometer bike ride, as well as a five-kilometer run or a two-mile roll and stroll, which is open to walkers, scooters, wheelchairs and dogs. Roll & Stroll will also include live music, raffles, games, food and more.
To donate or register and see the full agenda, visit the Roll & Stroll event website, where participants can create their own fundraising team, join a team or register individually.
LoConte, Zezulka, and other experts, caregivers and survivors listed below will be available onsite for interviews.
