MADISON, Wis. – Forbes has again named UW Health one of America’s best employers by state this year in Wisconsin and Illinois.

This award is presented by Forbes in partnership with Statista, a statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

America’s Best-In-State Employers 2025 is based on an independent survey of more than 160,000 employees working at companies with a minimum of 500 employees across the United States. The evaluation spanned all industry sectors and included approximately 4.4 million employer ratings collected over three years, ensuring a thorough and consistent assessment of workplace excellence.

UW Health ranked 21st in Wisconsin, up from 33rd last year. UW Health ranked fifth in Illinois, up from 10th last year, and the highest ranking for a health system in Illinois.

The organization’s commitment to offering meaningful growth opportunities, delivering valued benefits and fostering an inclusive environment has been key to earning recognition like this, according to Betsy Clough, system vice president and chief human resources officer at UW Health.

“Our goal is to make UW Health a place where people want to build their careers in Madison, in Rockford, and across the region,” she said.

Final scores were determined on a state-by-state basis, incorporating both personal and public evaluations. Personal evaluations reflected employees’ willingness to recommend their employer to friends and family, while public evaluations came from individuals familiar with the company or working in the same industry.

“We’re honored to be recognized by our employees and communities as one of the best places to work in the state,” said Rosa Jeschke, vice president of human resources at UW Health in northern Illinois. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see our employees’ dedication reflected in the way they, and the broader community, view UW Health. Their unwavering commitment to our patients, to one another and to the communities we serve is what truly makes this recognition possible.”
