Hey, Wisconsin. State Senator Chris Kapenga here.

You know, affordability seems to be a flash word that’s being used a lot in politics right now. And the reality is, I think all of us are dealing with skyrocketing prices, struggling with financial budgets. And that’s why one of the bills that passed through the Senate this week that I authored, and I’m excited about, is we eliminated the governor’s essentially 400-year property tax increase that he did with his veto pen in the budget.

The original intent from the legislature was a two-year increase in spending for schools, and the governor vetoed that and changed it to 400-year increase. And what this bill does is, it’s great because it fixes the problem that was created by the governor’s veto pen, and it also restores the balance of power between branches of government.

So, I think it’s great. And, let’s just hope the governor sees that this was a mistake and makes affordability his top priority, too.

Have a great week.
