Hi, I’m State Senator Dan Feyen.

Several weeks ago, the legislature passed the 2025–2027 State Biennial Budget, and while no one gets everything they want—especially with a divided state government—I’m proud to say this budget delivers where it counts.

On the campaign trail, I promised to fight for meaningful tax relief for hardworking Wisconsinites. This budget delivers over $1.4 billion in tax cuts. That’s real relief going back into your pockets.

I’ve always believed in a smaller, smarter government. This budget cuts over 300 vacant positions that have been unfilled for more than 18 months. If they’re not needed to run the state, those tax dollars shouldn’t be wasted—they should go back to the taxpayers.

We also made targeted investments in education, especially for high-need K–12 students and special education. And we’re making smart reforms in childcare to help parents return to the workforce.

Now, this budget isn’t perfect. There are elements I would have preferred to leave out, and things I would have liked to see included. But at the end of the day, it makes meaningful reforms and delivers real tax relief.

If you’re like me and want to see a more conservative budget in the future, then let this be a wake-up call. We need to expand our Republican majorities—and elect a Republican Governor next fall.

Thanks for listening and have a great week!
