Hi, I’m Representative Shae Sortwell and I represent the 2nd Assembly District. I wanted to take some time today to talk about this Christmas season!
Christmas is a sacred time that calls us to remember the birth of Jesus Christ and the hope He brought into the world. The season invites us to reflect on God’s love made visible through Christ’s humility and grace, reminding us that faith, compassion, and mercy are at the center of the celebration. Churches fill with hymns, families gather in prayer, and communities find renewed meaning in the story of the manger—a story of light entering darkness and offering peace to all who seek it.
Alongside its spiritual significance, Christmas is also a powerful reminder of the importance of giving. Whether it’s sharing our blessings with those in need, offering kindness to a neighbor, or giving our time to uplift others, the season encourages generosity in both big and small ways. In giving, we honor the example Christ set by offering Himself for others, and we strengthen the bonds that hold our communities together. Christmas becomes most meaningful when our faith inspires us to give freely, love deeply, and bring hope to those around us.
