Hi, I’m Representative Treig Pronschinske and I represent the 29th Assembly District. The 29th Assembly District encompasses Buffalo, Pepin, portions of Trempealeau, and parts of Pierce County. I also have the opportunity to chair the Assembly Committee on Sporting Heritage.

I want to take a little bit of your time today to discuss the need to establish a grey wolf harvesting quota in Wisconsin and why I think it is well worth our time to do this. Grey wolves have made a remarkable comeback in Wisconsin after being listed as endangered. As wolf populations increase, conflicts with livestock and pets become more frequent. Establishing a quota would allow the state to regulate and minimize these conflicts.

Wolf hunting could also contribute to the local economy, especially if regulated through permits or a harvest program that creates opportunities for hunters, conservationists, and tourism. The need to establish this quota is well overdue and it is in our best interest to take this up sooner rather than later.

Thank you.
