Hi, I’m Representative William Penterman and I represent the 38th Assembly District and chair the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee in the Assembly. I wanted to take a bit of your time to talk about Veterans Day.

Veterans Day is a time for all of us to pause and honor the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform. It’s a day to recognize the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of those who stood ready to defend our freedom —whether they served in times of war or peace. These heroes put country above self, and their service continues to shape the safety and values we cherish today. As we go about our daily lives, Veterans Day reminds us that freedom is not free—and that we owe a debt of gratitude to those who have served and continue to serve in defense of our nation. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the values they fought for and how we can uphold them in our communities. Taking a moment to thank a veteran, attend a ceremony, or simply remember their service helps ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

May God bless our troops, our veterans, and the great state of Wisconsin!
