Last week, State Senate candidate Lisa White met with two prominent members of the agricultural community to discuss the current political climate, economic considerations, and strategies for advancing multiple farm agendas. Pam Janhke joined Lisa at Midwest Family Radio to introduce her to the audience of Pam’s WHIT radio program, the “Mid-West Farm Report.”
On Monday, Lisa, a 33-year veteran business owner known as The Painter Lady, and Pam, a renowned broadcaster and agriculture specialist with 30 years of experience, found common ground through their expertise. They discussed the language used to talk about agriculture and business and explored what it takes to engage the diverse citizens of District 17 to foster meaningful dialogue and influence policy.
On Tuesday, Lisa met with Darin Von Ruden, President of the Wisconsin Farmers Union, to discuss similar concerns. Both share ongoing worries about the fate of family farms being overtaken by large industrial and foreign entities. This shift poses
significant environmental, economic, and national security challenges, which Von Ruden emphasized as critical issues. They agreed that it is essential to inform the citizens in District 17 about the implications of this “takeover” of valuable farmland, as many remain unaware of its potential consequences for the United States.
While many challenges persist for the agriculture community-particularly rising production costs alongside declining commodity prices-the broader implications of recent state and federal legislation have added uncertainty to the integration of
sustainable growth with economic viability.
Lisa White welcomes opportunities to discuss agricultural concerns and comments in an effort to develop a better and sustainable plan going forward with her candidacy for the District 17 Senate in Wisconsin.
