MADISON – Early Thursday morning, the Wisconsin Legislature passed Wisconsin’s biennial budget, which implements a fee schedule for the state’s workers’ compensation program. Within an hour, Governor Evers signed the full budget into law. WMC Executive Vice President of Government Affairs Scott Manley issued the following statement in response to the budget’s inclusion of a fee schedule:
“For years, Wisconsin’s business community has suffered from unreasonably high workers’ compensation medical costs, making our employers less competitive. Today, WMC applauds Speaker Vos, Leader LeMahieu, and Governor Evers for their successful efforts to curb these costs by enacting a fee schedule for hospital charges. WMC has long advocated for a fee schedule, and we are excited about the direct benefits employers will reap from the policy. This is a positive step towards controlling medical costs in the state.”
