The Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance (WMCA) strongly supports the recent ceasefire agreement and views it as a critical first step toward alleviating the suffering of civilians and fostering a pathway to long-term peace in the region.

The ceasefire outlines vital commitments, including:

  • The release of captives and prisoners, bringing relief to families separated by conflict.
  • Withdrawal of military forces and the reopening of crossings to allow for humanitarian
    aid.
  • The initiation of international efforts to support reconstruction and recovery.

WMCA recognizes the importance of these steps in addressing immediate humanitarian needs and calls on all parties to honor their commitments to ensure the safety and dignity of all people in the region.

“This ceasefire is a much-needed respite for those who have endured immense hardship. It is our hope that this agreement will serve as a foundation for meaningful dialogue, justice, and a sustainable peace,” said Fauzia Qureshi, Executive Director of the WMCA.

We also commend the efforts of international and local organizations working tirelessly to mediate and provide humanitarian support. Moving forward, WMCA urges the global community to prioritize long-term solutions that address the root causes of the conflict and uphold human rights for all. The ceasefire is a significant moment, but it must be accompanied by meaningful measures to end systemic injustices, including illegal settlements, land seizures, and the ongoing blockade of Gaza.

WMCA urges the U.S. government and international community to:

  • Support policies and initiatives that uphold human rights and protect civilians.
  • Hold all parties accountable for violations of international law.
  • Commit to sustainable peace through equitable solutions that address the root causes of
    conflict.

The Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance remains committed to advocating for peace, equity, and justice. We stand in solidarity with communities affected by violence and call on our elected leaders to support measures that promote diplomacy, aid, and reconciliation.
