MADISON, Wis. — New reporting from WMTV details the negative impacts of Tom Tiffany’s tariff taxes on artificial Christmas trees. As Wisconsinites celebrate this month, they will be reminded of the Republican’s cost-raising policies and complete failure to make life more affordable as price hikes on artificial trees and holiday lights continue. Shoppers are already dealing with increased toy prices and rising grocery costs due to the tariff-induced cost-of-living crisis this holiday season.

WMTV: Tariffs could raise the cost of artificial Christmas trees
By: Vanessa Kjeldsen
“Artificial Christmas tree manufacturers are raising prices this year in response to tariffs, with multiple major retailers reporting artificial Christmas trees could cost 10 to 20% more than last season. […]
Even buyers of real trees may face higher costs for other holiday items. The American Christmas Tree Association says nearly 90% of Christmas decor comes from China, which faces steep U.S. tariffs from the Trump Administration. For example, holiday lights could be subject to tariffs as high as 63%.
‘Particularly for a lot of items that would be kind of on a Christmas wish list, many of those are imported into the US,’ said Steven Deller, professor of applied economics at UW-Madison. ‘So we’re going to see a number of items increase in price.’”
