MADISON, Wis. — With Thanksgiving just one week away, consumers could face sticker shock as they head into stores for their holiday shopping. Wisconsinites may see price increases on staple Thanksgiving items, such as turkey and canned vegetables, as a result of the GOP’s tariff taxes, which have raised production costs.
“The GOP’s tariff taxes, which Rep. Tom Tiffany and Rep. Derrick Van Orden continue to support, are crushing Wisconsin families this holiday season,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “The holidays are a time of financial pressure, and the GOP’s policies are adding to their stress this year.”In contrast, Wisconsin Democrats across the state have been gathering supplies and donating to food pantries to help ease the pressure families are facing this holiday season.
