(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Kevin Knoke is the State Representative-elect for Wisconsin’s 30th Assembly District. He defeated five-term Republican Shannon Zimmerman and flipped a seat Democrats have not held since 1977. In response, 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement:

“Congratulations to the next State Representative for Wisconsin’s 30th Assembly District, Kevin Knoke,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action.

“Knoke is a geologist and teacher who spent 26 years teaching in Hudson’s public schools, and he served his country in the Army Reserve. He knows this land and the families who live on it. His opponent wrote a nearly $2 billion tax break for the data center industry he works in, then skipped a quarter of his votes this session. Voters are demanding more from their leaders, and we look forward to working with Knoke as he delivers.”

Republicans poured more than $1.5 million into television ads to protect Zimmerman, and Assembly Member-elect Knoke beat them with a campaign built on the issues western Wisconsin families raised with him: rising power bills, shuttered rural hospitals and underfunded schools.

Assembly Member-elect Knoke is a U.S. Army Reserve veteran and a longtime teacher who taught in the Hudson School District for 26 years. In Madison, Knoke will continue to fight for affordable healthcare, housing, and investment in Wisconsin public schools.
