MADISON, Wis. — As a member of Congress, MAGA gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany voted to overturn the 2020 election results and still refuses to acknowledge the verified results of the 2020 election to this day. Now, Tom Tiffany is standing silent as Donald Trump takes nearly $2 billion in public tax dollars for a slush fund to pay off cronies and supporters, including violent January 6 insurrectionists.

As reported by the New York Times on Monday:

The Justice Department announced on Monday that it was setting up a new $1.8 billion fund to compensate people who it said were victims of “weaponization and lawfare,” a group that will almost certainly be made up of President Trump’s political allies …

… The creation of the fund came in exchange for Mr. Trump’s dropping his lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service, as well as two administrative claims he had made against the federal government that he currently controls …

… Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, will appoint a board of five people to oversee the money, with one of those people selected with input from congressional leaders. Mr. Trump will be able to fire members of the fund’s commission at will …

… Mr. Trump’s political movement is filled with people who say they were wrongly targeted by the Justice Department and the federal government more broadly, including the people who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6. A lawyer for about 430 Jan. 6 defendants celebrated the creation of the fund and said he would seek payments for his clients from it.

A Better Wisconsin Together Deputy Director Mike Browne commented, “This is blatant theft of the American people’s money, and Tom Tiffany isn’t saying a word or lifting a finger to try to stop it. His willingness to abide by MAGA’s corruption is appalling, but sadly not unexpected. After all, this is the same guy who voted to throw out millions of our votes because he didn’t like the results.”
