Monroe, WI – April 17, 2026 – Jon Aleckson, a retired small business leader in educational technology and lifelong Wisconsin resident, today announced his candidacy for the Wisconsin State Assembly in District 50. District 50 includes all Green County and parts of southwest Dane County.
Aleckson is launching Restore Wisconsin, a movement to address key crises facing our region: the homeownership crisis, education and workforce readiness, family farm challenges, and the upcoming AI-driven economic changes.
“I’ve raised a family and built a successful Wisconsin business — now I want to bring that practical experience to Madison,” Aleckson said. “This isn’t about a political career. It’s about working together to solve real problems and leave our district stronger for the next generation”.
Restore Wisconsin Priorities:
- Housing and Property Taxes: Help young families afford homes with portable low-interest mortgages. Protect seniors from being taxed out of their homes by doubling homestead tax credits in the short term and pursuing a constitutional amendment for long-term relief.
- Supporting Families: Expand access to quality, affordable childcare and introduce retention bonuses for care workers to keep dedicated professionals in the field.
- Stronger Schools and Workforce: Leverage educational technology experience to create “smarter” schools — direct resources to classrooms and teachers, Prepare students for AI-powered jobs of the future.
- Stronger Family Farms: Boost farm income by lowering input costs, improving output prices, and opposing new state fees on milk haulers and livestock dealers that burden farmers. Make farming an attractive career for the next generation.
- Economic Opportunity: Cut red tape for small businesses, invest responsibly in rural infrastructure, and deliver fiscal accountability.
Aleckson stressed a collaborative approach: “When I say ‘we’ or ‘you and I,’ it means all of us working together. We will form working groups and networks to drive solutions. I’m asking for your vote and your active partnership in this campaign and in the legislature.”
