Madison, WI — Americans for Prosperity–Wisconsin (AFP-WI) thanked the State Senate Wednesday for passing the Wisconsin Red Tape Reset package. This transformative legislation has the chance to eliminate the excessive regulations endured by Wisconsin business owners for too long and instead provide a friendly environment for businesses looking to invest in the state. The State Assembly is scheduled to take up the package of proposals on Thursday.

“AFP-Wisconsin is thrilled to see the Red Tape Reset move forward,” AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak said. “Wisconsin has been an overregulated state for far too long, constricting our economic growth and saddling our entrepreneurs with unnecessary burdens. Between our excessive regulations and the misguided decision by our partisan Supreme Court that removed a necessary legislative check on the governor in the rulemaking process, Wisconsin businesses and families deserve regulatory relief. These bills are a welcome step to get Wisconsin back on the right track and we thank lawmakers for prioritizing the Reset and their continued work to make Wisconsin the best place to build a business in the Midwest.”

Wisconsin ranks as one of the top states for regulation in the country, with more than 165,000 regulatory restrictions on the books. By easing the restrictions and streamlining the rules placed on business owners, Wisconsin is poised to attract more businesses and become a state that nurtures the growth of entrepreneurs and job creators. AFP-WI has partnered with Legislators and the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty to inform citizens across the state on the burden of administrative rules and the benefits of regulatory reform like the Red Tape Reset.
