MADISON, Wis. – Today, Speaker Robin Vos announced he will not be seeking re-election. Morgan Hess, Executive Director of the Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee, released the following statement:
“With Speaker Vos’ retirement announcement today, we say farewell to the chief architect of Wisconsin’s spiral into GOP extremism and partisan gridlock. Robin Vos and the Republican legislators who voted in lockstep with him spent more than a decade blocking progress, hoarding power, and dragging families, workers and small businesses down.
“With a Democratic majority on the horizon in November, we have an opportunity to advance issues that have been stalled for far too long. We can lower costs for Wisconsin families, restore fundamental rights to women and working people, fully fund our public schools, and protect our elections.
“This is a new day for Wisconsin, and we are ready to get to work with folks around the state to move our communities forward.”
