ARENA, Wis. – Today, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published a Wisconsin Employment Relations Council (WERC) ruling that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources committed unfair labor practices and retaliated against Ben Gruber and other DNR wardens.
The ruling states: “The State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources committed unfair labor practices within the meaning of Section 111.84(1)(c) of the State Employment Labor Relations Act by taking adverse action against Benjamin Gruber… at least in part out of hostility toward their lawful concerted activity.”
Ben Gruber released the following statement:
“Our state agencies and institutions should work for the people, not against them. I know first hand what it’s like when agencies like the DNR are not working in our best interest, and I’ve proven that I will stand up for the people even when that comes at personal cost. The DNR, like all agencies, should focus on its mission of serving the people and protecting the resources of Wisconsin. I’m proud to be a union leader who stands up for workers, and I’ll be proud to be a legislator who stands up for my neighbors and our communities. When we stand together and demand change, we can secure wins that make our lives better.”
