De Pere, Wis. – Katie Baney, Republican candidate for Wisconsin’s 1st State Senate District, today announced the endorsement of Pastor John Slotten, former Harrison Town Chairman.

Pastor Slotten praised Baney’s conservative credentials and readiness to serve in the Wisconsin State Senate.

“Katie guides her life and leadership by Christian principles. She is a staunch advocate for life, school choice, parental involvement, and full curriculum transparency. Katie has the backbone to stand up for our values, the executive vision our district needs, and a genuine commitment to public service.”

Baney said she is grateful to earn the support of a well respected community leader.

“Pastor Slotten has run a successful business, served his community as Town Chairman, ministered to thousands of Wisconsinites, and is happily married with children and grandchildren. He epitomizes a life well led focused on serving God’s purpose. I deeply appreciate his support, counsel and friendship”.

Slotten’s endorsement marks the latest in a string of significant endorsements for Baney, which include Rep. Ron Tusler, Turning Point Action, the NRA, and Wisconsin Family Action. You can read Pastor John Slotten’s full remarks below:

Harrison, Wis — John Slotten, former two-term Harrison Town Chairman, interim Village President, retired prominent business owner and pastor, today announced his endorsement of Katie Baney for the Wisconsin State Senate 1st District ahead of the Republican primary on Tuesday, August 11, 2026

Slotten, who led the historic incorporation of Calumet County’s largest community into the Village of Harrison, released the following open letter to voters across Northeast Wisconsin:

Dear Neighbors and Friends across Northeast Wisconsin,

My roots in the 1st District run deep. I built a business here, pastored churches here, and served two terms as Harrison’s elected Town Chairman, leading Calumet County’s largest community through its historic incorporation as the Village of Harrison. I served as interim Village President until our first election. That work taught me what it takes to govern with integrity: balance a budget, keep taxes low, maintain the infrastructure people depend on, and build an economy that lasts.

I am retired now, but I cannot sit on the sidelines when the future of my children and grandchildren is on the ballot. That is why I am giving my full, unreserved endorsement to Katie Baney.

Katie did not adopt conservative labels for an election cycle. She has been a proven leader in our Republican Party since her college days and her early work as a Young Republican, which means she will not waver once she gets to Madison. Her years serving Wisconsin in Washington DC under principled conservatives like Senator Ron Johnson give her the state and national policy expertise to defend our district’s economic interests from day one.

As a former business owner and town chairman, I know that growth depends on the fundamentals. Katie will support small businesses, cut unnecessary red tape, and lower the tax burden so that families and employers alike keep more of what they earn. She will fight for well-maintained roads, fully supported police and fire departments, and safe communities where families can live without fear.

As a pastor who has served right here in the district, my chief concern is the moral fiber and fundamental freedoms of our community. A happily married mother of two, Katie guides her life and leadership by Christian principles. She is a staunch advocate for life, school choice, parental involvement, and full curriculum transparency — because parents, not government bureaucrats, hold the ultimate right and responsibility to direct their children’s upbringing and education.

Katie also understands that quality of life matters. She is committed to protecting our natural resources: the clean air and clean water we all depend on, healthy real food grown by our farmers, the outdoor heritage that makes this region remarkable, and the tourism it brings our way.

The 1st District deserves a steadfast conservative who will fight for our families, our faith, our farms, and our hardworking Midwestern way of life. Katie Baney has the backbone to stand up for our values, the executive vision our district needs, and a genuine commitment to public service. I urge my fellow conservatives, former constituents, and neighbors across the district to cast your vote for Katie Baney on Tuesday, August 11th.
