The following is a statement from Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes following last night’s vote by Tom Tiffany to continue killing Wisconsin jobs and spiking costs with reckless tariffs. In April, Tiffany was the deciding vote to stop Trump’s inflationary tariffs from being repealed by Congress:
“As costs continue to rise for Wisconsin families, farmers, and small businesses, Tom Tiffany just voted—again—to increase costs with reckless tariffs.
“Yesterday’s vote proves again that Tom Tiffany will always put Donald Trump first, even when Wisconsinites pay the price.
“It’s time to reject the Washington Way of politics as usual that is driving up costs and put Wisconsin first. We need leaders who get things done the Wisconsin Way—focused on lowering costs for families, standing up for our farmers and small businesses, and not bowing down to Donald Trump.
“That’s why I’m running for governor.”
