MADISON, WI — Juliana Bennett, the Democratic Socialist of America-endorsed candidate for Wisconsin State Assembly District 76, announces that her campaign has earned the endorsement of the American Federation of Teachers-Wisconsin (AFT-Wisconsin), adding one of the state’s most influential labor organizations to a rapidly growing coalition of supporters.

The endorsement comes as Bennett’s grassroots campaign continues to build momentum through a volunteer-driven operation, community organizing, and a bold platform centered on lowering costs for working families, strengthening public education, expanding affordable housing, and ensuring every Wisconsinite can thrive.

“This campaign has always been about the people who make our communities work every single day,” said Juliana Bennett. “Teachers, school staff, caregivers, nurses, service workers, and working families deserve elected leaders who will fight as hard for them as they fight for us. I’m incredibly honored to earn the support of AFT-Wisconsin, and I’m proud to stand alongside educators in the fight for strong, fully-funded public schools, living wages, safe workplaces, and an economy where one job is enough.”

AFT-Wisconsin represents thousands of educators, school staff, and public employees across the state and has long been a leading voice for public education, workers’ rights, and economic justice.

“In a competitive primary with a number of very talented candidates, AFT-Wisconsin is proud to endorse Juliana Bennett in this race,” said Jon Shelton, President of AFT-Wisconsin. “One thing about Juliana is crystal clear: she has shown up to stand with our members for union rights and public education at all levels. We have the utmost confidence that we can rely on her to fight for our shared values, and we look forward to co-governing with Juliana when she is elected to serve in the legislature.”

The endorsement further expands Bennett’s coalition, following endorsements from the Democratic Socialists of America, Madison Common Council President Sabrina Madison, and a growing list of labor and community leaders. It reflects increasing support from organizations representing working people across Wisconsin as the campaign enters its final stretch before the August 11 Democratic primary.

“Our campaign has never been powered by political insiders or wealthy donors,” Bennett said. “It’s powered by people who believe Madison deserves a representative who answers to working people. Every endorsement we receive, every volunteer who knocks a door, and every neighbor who contributes what they can shows that this movement is growing because people are ready for bold leadership that puts working families first.”

Assembly District 76 covers most of Madison’s Northside, Eastside, and Isthmus and is currently represented by Representative Francesca Hong, who is vacating the seat to run for Governor.
