RAYMOND, Wis. – Today, Milwaukee Area Service and Hospitality Workers Union endorsed Mitchell Berman, the union member and ER nurse running in Wisconsin’s First Congressional District. MASH represents 1,200 workers across Southeastern Wisconsin from its home base in Milwaukee.
“Our union proudly endorses Mitchell Berman in Wisconsin’s First Congressional District because if we want Congress to deliver for working people, we need working people in Congress,” said Peter Rickman, President and Business Manager of MASH.
“Wall Street and the monopolies rigged the system to secure record profits while leaving working people, struggling with stagnant wages and higher prices, by continuing on politicians like Bryan Steil. It’s time to stand up to corporate interest who have controlled our democracy in our economy for too long by electing Mitchell Berman to do what he’s always done, take care of working people.”
Berman, the emergency room nurse from Raymond in rural Racine County, spent eleven years caring for veterans at the VA and has been a union member at every organized facility where he has worked. He is running to unseat four-term incumbent Bryan Steil, who has backed Medicaid cuts, opposed extending ACA subsidies, and sided with corporate special interests over working families.
